Posted on: Tuesday, 11 October 2005, 12:00 CDT

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- AGEIA(TM) Technologies, Inc., the pioneer in hardware-accelerated physics for games, today announced the addition of a new member to its executive team: Irene Qualters, vice president of software engineering. Ms. Qualters will be responsible for the full life cycle of software development including processes and implementation methodologies for the AGEIA PhysX(TM) parallel computing architecture.

"Clearly hardware physics is the next big thing in gaming, however the hardware isn't anything without the software to exploit it," said Manju Hegde, founder and CEO of AGEIA. "Irene has a track record of leadership excellence; we look forward to leveraging her expertise to drive the usability and performance of the PhysX processor."

With more than 20 years of experience, Ms. Qualters has held a broad range of engineering and technical leadership positions as vice president of Merck & Co., senior vice president of Silicon Graphics and president of Cray Research. As well, she was a distinguished visiting scientist at the NASA/Goddard Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. She remains active on several technical and scientific advisory boards.

During her career, Ms. Qualters has been successful in leading the design, development and support of high performance application and systems software including the operating system, networking and peripheral devices, parallel compilers and user tools.

Ms. Qualters holds a MA in Computer Science from the University of Detroit and a BS in Mathematics/Sec. Ed. from Duquesne University.

About AGEIA

AGEIA(TM) Technologies, Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company and the pioneer of hardware-accelerated physics for games. Its flagship product, the PhysX processor, is the world's first dedicated physics processing unit -- a completely new hardware category. The PhysX processor and supporting software deliver the processing horsepower to calculate real-time interactive worlds. Developers can define these worlds to obey the laws of classical physics, or create their own physical laws that make their game a unique, hyper- dimensional experience. AGEIA seeks to ignite innovation in the games industry by working with leading developers, publishers, add-in board vendors and console manufacturers to deliver the next generation of physically immersive entertainment. Consumer add-in boards and systems equipped with the AGEIA PhysX processor and games that take advantage of the technology will be available in late 2005.
