Upgrades to Revinetix Backup Software to Support Brick-Level Recovery of Microsoft Exchange Server Data; Revinetix to Offer Native MS Exchange Agent for Disk2Disk-Based Backup Appliances, Helping SMBs Fulfill Government Regulatory Compliance
Posted on: Thursday, 13 October 2005, 15:00 CDT
Revinetix, a pioneer in Disk2Disk2Disk(TM) backup solutions, today announced that it will offer a native Microsoft Exchange Server Agent for its RevOS(TM) software on Sentio(TM) and Volo(TM) network backup appliances. This new software upgrade will enable small and medium businesses (SMBs) with limited or no IT staff to easily back up and restore MS Exchange Server data by mailbox.
"Enabling users to confidently back up and restore Exchange messaging quickly from disk will help more small and medium businesses (SMBs) to effectively address government e-mail retention guidelines, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and other regulations," said Revinetix VP of Sales Brian Clark. "Revinetix is committed to addressing the particular needs of the SMB space, and this new Exchange agent will do just that."
Revinetix's RAID appliances ship pre-loaded with the company's intuitive RevOS and Bare-Metal Restore (BMR) software to enable seamless installation into existing IT infrastructures, as well as management without any additional third-party software. RevOS supports scheduled automated backup and recovery functions for every user on the network. Revinetix products support all major operating systems in use today and include a startup wizard that enables even a novice user to set up the appliance in less than an hour. The secure Web-based admin interface for RevOS enables access to the backup appliance from any browser on the LAN/WAN.
Planned for release in December 2005, the new brick-level recovery feature for RevOS will enable users to view, select and restore individual e-mails and/or mailboxes from Exchange servers based on search criteria. The new MS Exchange agent will be offered as an option at time of purchase for any Sentio or Volo device at a cost of $995. No per-client licensing fees will be assessed. A site license enables affordable backup/recovery for the entire network.
Revinetix backup appliances currently support storage capacities up to 8 Terabytes (compressed) of data storage (4 Terabytes raw capacity). These devices are available in a desktop format (Volo) or 1U, 2U, 3U or 4U rack-mount chassis (Sentio) with high-speed Intel Xeon processors, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet controllers, dual load-sharing redundant power supplies, and a hardware RAID card. The Sentio line supports up to 16 hot-swappable serial ATA drives for unlimited off-site storage and greater reliability and speed compared to traditional tape backup systems.
