Automated Systems America Selects Transaction Network Services to Securely Route Network Data; Contract Welcomes TNS to Hospitality and Entertainment Industry

Transaction Network Services, Inc. (NYSE:TNS), a leading provider of business-critical network and data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, today announced that Automated Systems America, Inc. (ASAI) has selected TNS' ATMLink product to provide a managed virtual private network (VPN) service. The Glendale, Ca.-based automated teller machine (ATM) and electronic kiosk processor has signed a three-year agreement with TNS.
TNS' ATMLink service - broadband data transaction support that works with any ATM: dial-up, legacy protocol or Internet protocol (IP) - will support 4,200 dedicated access digital subscriber line (DSL) sites, which include hospitality, gaming and quick service restaurants (QSRs).
ATMLink will be provided to ASAI and BOINK!, their kiosk manufacturer partner. With ASAI providing the ATM service via their full-service switch product line Datastream, and BOINK! providing the technical ability to dispense both cash and tickets from kiosks, the pair have secured a contract with a major hospitality chain. In 2006, the partners will place self-service check-in kiosks at more than 2,200 locations across the country that will provide hotel guests with room assignments and encoded room keys, along with the ability to withdraw cash. TNS' role as the VPN service provider marks the company's entry into a new vertical market.
"ASAI chose TNS because of its superior reputation and service," said John Steely, president and general manager, ASAI. "Our new business opportunities are exciting, but the bottom line necessitates consistent, secure connectivity. Only TNS can provide the high level of service our customers require."
"One of the reasons we are confident in our partnership with ASAI is the security and speed that TNS brings to the table," said Bill Toro, President of BOINK! "The kiosk industry needs to have confidence that the data communications providers behind the scenes are reliable, and we are thankful to depend upon TNS."
"TNS is thrilled to provide ASAI with the technology they need, and this relationship opens up new business opportunities for TNS," said Heidi Goff, executive vice president and general manager, TNS Point-of-Service (POS) division. "We are anxious to leverage previous success in the point of sale market into the hospitality, gaming and entertainment industries. As consumers become more comfortable using self-service technology, TNS is positioned to provide fast and secure data transactions to support customer demand and expectations."
