Oct. 14--Verizon Communications is looking for more fiber-network field technicians.

The telecommunications company will hold an open house for job applicants 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 22 at its offices at 8001 W. Jefferson Blvd. It has full-time openings for terms of up to 36 months.

The field technicians will install and repair a fiber network the company is building at terminal facilities and customer locations. The company is looking for candidates with fiber technician, equipment installation, installation repair, CATV installation, and data installation and repair experience.

Candidates must pass company tests to qualify, and the job requires a driver's license, safe driving record and the ability to work scheduled hours. Wages for the positions start at $14.09 an hour and go up to $24.10, depending on experience. Verizon offers benefits including paid training, tuition assistance, and company-paid medical, dental and life insurance.
