BroadSoft, the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announces the introduction of the BroadWorks Communicator(TM) - a Windows-based softphone fully integrated with BroadWorks - the most widely deployed hosted VoIP platform worldwide. With audio and video capabilities, the BroadWorks Communicator allows users to place calls anytime and anywhere from their PC with a high-speed Internet connection.
"While video telephony is an emerging market today, devices such as the BroadWorks Communicator help broaden video usage by providing distributed enterprises and consumers a richer communications experience," said Brent Kelly, senior analyst & partner at Wainhouse Research, LLC.
With its intuitive user interface and streamlined design, the BroadWorks Communicator enables service providers to go to market quickly with a solution that delivers the latest telephony and video features:
-- Auto-provisioning: The BroadWorks Communicator automatically configures user settings and updates through the BroadWorks platform, eliminating challenges associated with third-party application integration. End-users download the BroadWorks Communicator to start making and receiving calls immediately.
-- Enhanced video services: In addition to making point-to-point video calls, the BroadWorks Communicator can take full advantage of advanced video services in BroadWorks, such as video messaging, video add on, video auto attendant, video on hold, video call center, and video custom ringback.
-- Directory integration: The BroadWorks Communicator is integrated with users' BroadWorks and Outlook contact lists enabling users to quickly place or transfer calls through click-to-dial capabilities.
-- Conference calling: Using the BroadWorks Communicator's simple interface, users can conference five additional parties.
-- Advanced security: The BroadWorks Communicator uses SIP over Transport Layer Security (TLS) to provide service providers the latest technology for enhanced network security.
-- Multi-language support: The BroadWorks Communicator has multi-language support through the BroadWorks platform.
"The launch of BroadWorks Communicator represents a major milestone in the BroadWorks VoIP application platform roadmap," said Michael Tessler, CEO and president at BroadSoft. "Service providers can now confidently and quickly launch video services through our fully integrated softphone and field-proven hosted voice platform. With the Communicator, we're driving video into the mainstream by eliminating costs associated with traditional video phones and extending the familiarity of voice calls to video."
