FedEx Launches National Community Service Program: Operation FedEx Special Delivery; Specially-Designed Vans Service Communities Nationwide
Posted on: Monday, 17 October 2005, 09:00 CDT
FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) today unveiled Operation FedEx Special Delivery, a unique campaign that helps communities nationwide.
During last year's holiday season, FedEx unveiled Operation FedEx Special Delivery in a limited number of cities, providing transportation support through the FedEx family of companies for local philanthropic organizations. Following last year's success, FedEx is expanding its outreach to more cities on a year-round basis.
Operation FedEx Special Delivery helps serve the needs of local charities by offering support for seasonal initiatives such as food and toy drives, as well as providing year-round support for other philanthropic causes such as disaster relief. The program extends FedEx's commitment in local communities and adds to its support for local, national and international philanthropic organizations.
Last year, Operation FedEx Special Delivery visited 16 cities across the country, collecting 20,000 toys, 10,000 pounds of food and 3,000 coats. Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the program helped collect a portion of the more than 1,000 tons of relief supplies FedEx delivered to victims of the disasters on behalf of relief agencies.
"Operation FedEx Special Delivery supports local charities by providing transportation solutions, allowing these organizations to focus on what they do best," said T. Michael Glenn, executive vice president, Market Development & Corporate Communications. "We're proud that FedEx is committed, and our employees have the desire to help local organizations throughout the year."
