AMCC Introduces High Performance, High Capacity 3ware 9550SX Series SATA II RAID Controllers to Intel Product Dealers During National Roadshow

Posted on: Tuesday, 18 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) (NASDAQ:AMCC) today announced that it has joined the Intel(R) Channel Conference (ICC) to highlight its industry-leading Serial ATA (SATA) RAID solutions for Intel Product Dealers (IPDs) nationwide. ICC targets system builders and is specifically designed to educate Intel's network of IPDs on the latest related product launches, technology announcements, and program benefits. AMCC will participate in 29 cities, starting now through November 17.

AMCC will showcase its recently announced 3ware 9550SX family of SATA II RAID controllers. The 3ware 9550SX is 200% faster than the company's previous generation 9500S, delivering RAID 5 writes at over 380MB/sec and RAID 5 reads at more than 800MB/sec and supports the Serial ATA 2.5 specification and a PCI-X host interface. The 3ware 9550SX-4LP 4-port kit and the 3ware 9550SX-8LP 8-port kit, both in low profile form factors, are available today with MSRPs of $395 and $595, respectively.

"ICC attracts thousands of highly qualified system builders specifically looking to evaluate the latest technology advancements for the systems that they build, install, and manage," said Michael Joyce, Director of Marketing for AMCC Storage. "AMCC provides a comprehensive product family of SATA and SATA II RAID controllers, and ICC gives us the opportunity to showcase their performance, scalability, and reliability."

"ICC targets system builders looking for proven, cost-effective, Intel-compatible solutions that will perform for their clients day in and day out," said Frank Raimondi, strategic channel alliances manager, Intel Corporation. "AMCC is recognized as an industry leader in SATA RAID, and their participation in ICC will help educate IPDs on how the new 3ware 9550SX SATA II RAID controllers deliver a variety of storage solutions for almost every business and vertical data application."
