Graybar Selects MegaPath to Provide Broadband Virtual Private Network (VPN) Services; $1.25 Million Agreement Includes Global Remote Access Services (GRAS)

Posted on: Wednesday, 19 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

MegaPath Networks Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., announced today that they have entered into a $1.25 million, three-year contract to provide broadband virtual private network (VPN) and Global Remote Access Services (GRAS) for Graybar, a leading North American distributor of electrical and telecommunications service solutions and products and related supply-chain management and logistics services.

Graybar will use the broadband VPN and GRAS services to improve remote network access for up to 1,400 remote employees and deliver additional bandwidth and network redundancy to its more than 250 distribution locations. The broadband VPN services will supplement Graybar's high-speed frame relay network, while the GRAS will provide the company's mobile workforce with a broader footprint for high-speed access technologies.

"The MegaPath team was our number-one choice for two reasons: their reach and their reputation for excellent customer service. These characteristics are consistent with our core business standards," said Steven R. Becker, Graybar vice president and chief information officer. "We anticipate that these services will help increase our employees' productivity so that they can spend more time working directly with our customers."

Utilizing the iPass network and services, MegaPath offers the world's largest virtual network, including thousands of unique points of presence (POPs) in more than 150 countries. Global Remote Access Services and MegaPath's VPN solution allows mobile workers to securely connect to the Internet using analog dial-up and thousands of wired broadband and Wi-Fi public hotspots to access centralized business resources. MegaPath and iPass are jointly providing training for Graybar's tier-one technical support personnel.
