Posted on: Wednesday, 19 October 2005, 09:00 CDT
Green Hills Software, Inc., the technology leader in real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device software optimization (DSO), announced today that it has established an agreement with NAVTEQ(R), a leading provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, to offer integrated solutions to developers of telematics and infotainment systems requiring navigation. As part of the agreement, NAVTEQ map data and other technologies have been integrated with Green Hills Software's royalty-free INTEGRITY and velOSity real-time operating systems. The combined solution from NAVTEQ and Green Hills Software has already been selected by several tier 1 suppliers to the automotive industry and deployment is targeted for certain vehicles for model year 2006.
Ralf Duengen, Business Development Director, NAVTEQ, commented, "The scalability of Green Hills' royalty-free INTEGRITY RTOS and velOSity microkernel, combined with true real-time behavior, gives us an opportunity to address the strict requirements of the automotive market."
Jeremy Flann, European Director of Business Development for Green Hills Software, added, "Having NAVTEQ's technology ported and validated for INTEGRITY and velOSity has given a significant head-start to our customers who are incorporating navigation features into both original and aftermarket automotive equipment."
INTEGRITY is a fast, deterministic RTOS designed for applications that require true scalability, small size, certifiable reliability and real-time responsiveness. Built on the velOSity microkernel, INTEGRITY is well suited for cost-sensitive, resource-constrained applications with demanding performance and reliability requirements, such as consumer and automotive devices. In addition, the INTEGRITY RTOS' unique application and device driver protections coupled with Green Hills Software's robust MULTI software development environment helps manufacturers minimize their time to market by reducing product development time.
