NEW YORK, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- EDUCAUSE 2005 Annual Conference, Orlando, Fla. -- Horizon Wimba announced a unique partnership with Blackboard Inc., a leading provider of e-Learning software and campus commerce systems. Through this partnership, any member of Bb Connections, Blackboard's online hub for enabling communities of practice, can collaborate online using Horizon Wimba's Live Classroom and Voice Tools software.
Prominently featured in the 'What's Inside' and 'The Buzz' sections of the recently renovated Bb Connections website, Horizon Wimba will enable Blackboard users to collaborate online - both live and asynchronously - in a number of ways. Through Horizon Wimba's Blackboard Building Blocks, Blackboard user group members can use Live Classroom to conduct live online meetings or training sessions and they can also hold ongoing vocal discussions by using Horizon Wimba's voice-enabled threaded-message boards.
"The kind of collaboration that is enabled by tools such as Live Classroom provides a tremendous opportunity to advance our users' communities of practice," said Adrian Alleyne, Manager of Blackboard Communities. "Given that these communities are so geographically dispersed, it is crucial to have a boundary-spanning yet rich communication tool through which our users can share ideas and best practices."
"Blackboard created Bb Connections because it understands the value of enabling its customers to learn directly from one another," said Tommaso Trionfi, Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Wimba. "We know that by using our collaborative software that Blackboard's customers can more easily discuss their unique visions for their online courses. We're happy knowing that we can add another dimension to this important collaborative process."
