T-Mobile Austria Adopts Danger’s Mobile Internet Solution
Danger Inc., a mobile software and services company, today announced that T-Mobile Austria launched the T-Mobile(R) Sidekick(R) II, a device powered by Danger’s mobile Internet platform. With a two year service contract, Austrian consumers can purchase the T-Mobile Sidekick II for only EUR 99 (about $120). With the "Sidekick unlimited" data option, there are no limits on Web surfing, email or instant messaging in Austria. Between now and the end of the year the "Sidekick unlimited" data option will be available free of charge; from January 2006 a flat monthly fee of EUR 14,90 (about $18) will be charged.
"T-Mobile Austria has become established in Austria as the driver for genuine access to the internet on a mobile phone. When it comes to innovation in this area, the Sidekick is further proof of our leadership claim. The rich Web browsing and integrated messaging applications on the T-Mobile Sidekick will make it the perfect addition to our data offering. Danger’s solution is perfectly suited to our target users," said Georg Mundl, Marketing Director T-Mobile Austria.
Danger’s mobile internet platform is comprised of a software and services infrastructure that powers Danger-enabled devices. Designed as a client/server system, the platform continuously synchronizes and manages the secure transmission of data between the network and the device. For an end-user this means an optimized Web browsing experience, superior email and instant messaging capabilities and access to a Web-based, online account to manage all of his or her data from a desktop computer. The unique device operating system delivers a set of uncompromised applications that interact with each other and operate simultaneously, allowing users to multitask, much like the familiar desktop environment.
"Danger is pleased to partner with T-Mobile Austria for its ‘Internet in your pocket’ initiative," said Hank Nothhaft, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Danger. "Danger’s platform is specifically designed to deliver a superior mobile Internet experience to the end user, while creating a valuable business for our operator partners."
T-Mobile Austria is the third T-Mobile property to launch Danger’s mobile Internet service, joining T-Mobile USA and T-Mobile Germany. T-Mobile UK plans to launch Danger’s solution later this year. Additional operators in North America and Europe offer Danger’s mobile Internet experience under their own brands.
