Hijaz Railroad Line

A-Thawra newspaper reported details on the project to develop the Hijaz Railroad Line as of late September 2005. This project covers renewal of the railroad line from Damascus to Sarghaya Rayaq in Lebanon at an investment of SP 70 million
. It also includes renewal of the line from Damascus to Dar'aa 'Amman, as well as connections between the international airports of neighboring countries and the Hijaz Railway. The paper noted that the Hijaz Railroad connects Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as connecting to Iraq by means of laying track on the Dir a-Zur-al-Bukamal-Mosul, Iraq, line. It is also possible to connect to Iran by renovating the track from Damascus to Tehran, Iran, via Turkey.Source: Info-Prod Research (Middle East)
