OAUG Develops Oracle Community Integration Initiative; New Initiative Formed to Enable New User Groups to Establish Niche Within Oracle Community
Posted on: Monday, 24 October 2005, 09:00 CDT
The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG), the world's largest global knowledgebase for Oracle(R) Applications users, recently developed the Oracle Community Integration Initiative to enable user groups to play a more active role in the Oracle community.
The OAUG developed this initiative as a result of Oracle Corp.'s recent acquisitions of business applications providers such as PeopleSoft, Retek, Siebel, iFlex, ProfitLogic and Global Logistics. The Oracle Community Integration Initiative is the OAUG's tool for reaching out to the affiliated user groups of these companies and bringing them under the OAUG umbrella as "user groups within a user group," while enabling them to maintain their individual identities.
The OAUG provides the participants of the Oracle Community Integration Initiative with numerous resources and benefits such as strategic guidance and support in developing an organizational structure, which is especially important to user groups that were maintained by a parent company but now find themselves to be functioning independently. For these user groups, the OAUG also offers access to existing channels of influence within Oracle, which have been established during the last 15 years, and advice on setting up executive boards and electing officers and other organizational assistance.
Additional benefits and services that participating user groups receive include a role in the OAUG's annual conferences; support for independent product, regional or industry meetings; online educational sessions; guidance on how to align specific business practices with current Oracle initiatives; participation on established collaborations with Oracle on matters such as enhancements, Project Fusion, pricing and customer support and assistance in developing new programs within the Oracle community.
"As Oracle continues to grow through more acquisitions, the OAUG is helping to bring new user groups into the Oracle family," said Patricia Dues, president of the OAUG. "These user groups have a very important function within the OAUG because they are a new source of innovative ideas that can help our own members to get more from their applications."
User groups affiliated with companies that have recently merged with Oracle are encouraged to contact Steven Hughes, executive director of the OAUG, to discuss ways to take part in the Oracle Community Integration Initiative. Hughes can be reached at shughes@oaug.com.
