Aventail Teams With Microsoft for Increased Security on Windows Platform

SSL VPN leader Aventail is teaming with Microsoft for increased security on the Microsoft Windows platform. As a member of the new SecureIT Alliance, Aventail will collaborate more closely with Microsoft as Aventail develops its next-generation secure remote access solutions. The alliance brings together leading vendors from across the security and Internet industries.
"Microsoft's goal for the alliance is to unite industry leading vendors from all parts of the security infrastructure to enhance the security of the Microsoft Windows environment," said Bruce Burns, senior director of Microsoft. "As a member of the SecureIT Alliance, we will work with Aventail as they continue to play a vital role in helping to secure remote access environments."
Aventail already collaborates with many of the other Alliance industry members, such as McAfee, RSA Security, Symantec, VeriSign, and others, who are part of Aventail's best of breed technology program. As part of Aventail's End Point Control initiative, Aventail technology works hand-in-hand with these and other security solutions to ensure that an end point device is secure before granting it access to key corporate resources via the SSL VPN.
"We welcome Microsoft's role in bringing together leading security vendors and placing even stronger emphasis on securing the Microsoft Windows platform," said John Blackburn, director, Technology Alliances, Aventail. "The majority of our enterprise customers depend on Microsoft's technology, and our goal is to integrate seamlessly and ensure that remote access from all Microsoft-based devices is absolutely secure."
Aventail works closely with Microsoft on several fronts. For example, Aventail recently launched a new secure remote access solution, Aventail Mobile, designed specifically for smartphones and Windows-based PDAs. Aventail plans to expand its mobile solution with the introduction of Windows Mobile 5.0.
Aventail is also a member of Microsoft's Network Access Protection (NAP) initiative. Aventail's Unified Policy and End Point Control fit ideally with NAP, as Aventail's technology allows network administrators to set granular access controls via the Aventail SSL VPN based on user identity and the security of the end device.
