Time-Warner Cable Lets Viewers Start Over
October 25, 2005
A new venture by NBC and Time Warner Cable called Start Over will let TV viewers rewind and watch the beginnings of shows they may have missed.
The TiVo-style technology will let Time Warner cable customers watch shows already in progress on NBC, Bravo, CNBC, Sci Fi and USA from the beginning, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
Start Over differs from other video-on-demand services, however, in that customers cannot access a show once it ends nor can they fast-forward through commercials.
The service will be made available for free over the Time Warner Cable system with no added equipment required.
The Journal said ABC and CBS also expressed interest in video-on-demand technology.
