Boyd Gaming's Delta Downs Casino to Reopen November 3

Posted on: Wednesday, 26 October 2005, 15:00 CDT

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boyd Gaming Corporation today announced that its Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel in Vinton, Louisiana is scheduled to reopen on November 3, pending regulatory approval. While the casino will be fully operational, the Company expects to have a limited number of hotel rooms and food outlets available at that time, with the balance coming on line by the end of the year. The Company also expects that horseracing at Delta Downs will begin shortly after the first of the year as repair work on those facilities continues. As previously reported, the property suffered both wind and water damage as a result of Hurricane Rita and has been closed since September 22.

Bill Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming Corporation, said, "The revitalization of the Lake Charles area is well underway and we look forward to furthering that effort and welcoming back our employees and guests. With the re-opening of Treasure Chest on October 10 and Delta Downs set for November 3, we will soon have all of our Louisiana operations functioning following the recent storms."

The Company will report its third quarter results on Thursday, November 3 and hold a conference call on that day at 4:15 p.m. EST. Among other things, the Company will discuss the financial impact of both hurricanes relative to its Louisiana operations.

This press release contains forward-looking statements within the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and Section 21E of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. Such statements include information regarding the Company's expectations, goals or intentions regarding the future, including but not limited to statements regarding the damage caused by recent hurricanes and the expected timing for reopening Delta Downs. In addition, forward-looking statements include statements regarding the Company's expectation for the availability of hotel rooms and food outlets on November 3, and that the balance will be available by the end of the year, the Company's expected timing for the resumption of horseracing at Delta Downs and the revitalization of the Lake Charles area. The Company can provide no assurances that additional inspections will not discover additional hurricane damage to its properties, or the actual timing for the resumption of operations at Delta Downs (including horseracing or the availability of hotel rooms or food outlets). Among the factors that could cause actual results to differ materially are the following: the ongoing impact of recent hurricanes on the gaming industry in Louisiana and the local and regional economy, whether customers will return to the Company's properties that have been damaged by recent hurricanes, the receipt of the necessary approvals to resume operations at Delta Downs, the Company's ability to recover insurance proceeds (if any) in an amount to cover its losses, financial community and rating agency perceptions of the Company, competition, increased costs (including marketing costs), changes in laws and regulations, including increased taxes, the availability and price of energy, regulation, economic, credit and capital market conditions and the effects of war, terrorist or similar activity. Additional factors that could cause actual results to differ are discussed under the heading "Investment Considerations" and in other sections of the Company's Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2004 on file with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and in its other current and periodic reports filed with, or furnished to, the Commission from time to time.
