Leading Dutch Insurer Achmea Purchases SPSS Software for Enhanced Claims Handling; Improved Detection of Fraud Risks Using PredictiveClaims(TM)
Posted on: Thursday, 27 October 2005, 09:00 CDT
SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ:SPSS), a leading worldwide provider of predictive analytics technology and services, today announced that Achmea, one of Holland's largest financial services providers, has selected SPSS' PredictiveClaims application. Achmea will use the software to enhance its claims process and detect more fraud, while reducing costs and improving customer satisfaction.
Achmea will deploy PredictiveClaims to determine in real time - at the claim-notification stage - which low risk claims qualify for immediate approval and which ones are suspicious and need to be further investigated. This "fast-track claim handling" approach will provide Achmea with a strong competitive edge in the insurance market. It will allow them to remove expensive claim processing steps for the legitimate claims and offer rapid and optimal service to its customers.
SPSS' software will also enable Achmea to automatically detect potential fraud. Discovering more fraud will help Achmea reduce the high costs of settling false claims, enabling them to lower their premiums and better acquire and retain customers.
"Fraud detection is a hot topic in the insurance industry at the moment. It's very important for us to stay ahead of the market and act quickly and appropriately on this issue," said Chris Schonewille, Director Operations Non-Life at Achmea Private Lines.
"SPSS' application will enable us to automatically uncover the suspicious claims that generate the high costs, and considerably speed up the claim handling process for our loyal and reliable clients. With SPSS, we expect to detect twice as much fraud and save several millions of Euros."
