Ghana: New National Carrier Begins Commercial Flights on 29 October

A Ghana International Airline aircraft this afternoon landed at the Kotoka International Airport to commence scheduled commercial flights. The leased Boeing 757 aircraft painted with the tail in the national colours was received on the tarmac with funfair and a performance of religious rites. [Passage omitted]
The place with a capacity for 160 passengers has been fully booked for its maiden Accra-London-Accra flight tonight. GIA sources at the airport said hopefully the 757 aircraft would be replaced with two Boeing 757 and two MD-90 airplanes by early next year. [2006]]
