Nepal to build int’l airport in west
KATHMANDU, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) — The proposed international airport to be constructed at a western city of Nepal will be completed within four years, a senior government official said here Saturday.
“The construction works of the airport near Pokhara city, some 200 km west of Kathmandu, will be started from this year and will be completed within four years,” Buddhi Raj Bajracharya, minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, told reporters.
Interactions are also underway with international donor agencies regarding the construction works, Bajracharya noted.
The construction of the airport, on 3,106 ropanis (2112.08 hectares) acquired land, is to commence this year soon after the harvest of paddy crop grown in the land, Bajracharya said.
“The airport will play an important role in the all-round development of the region,” Bajracharya said.
