Industrial Project Activity in the Southwest for 2006 Expected to Exceed 2005 Spending Levels, an Advisory From Industrialinfo.Com

By the close of the third quarter this year, two things about the industrial market of the Southwest were apparent. First, confidence in the regional market continued to improve, although spending activity this year didn't quite perform to the level most expected. It's certain that many will blame late summer hurricanes, although the spending had already missed expectations prior to the landfall of the major storms in August and September. Secondly, there is as much, or maybe even more, optimism about 2006 being a big spending year than there was entering 2005 at this same time last year. This optimism comes in spite of the surging cost of natural gas and feedstock supply issues the region now faces due to damaged infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico and coastal areas.
