Avaya Joins MIT Media Lab's Digital Life Consortium

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Avaya Inc. , a global leader in business communications applications, systems and services, today announced that it has joined the community of corporate sponsors of the MIT Media Lab's Digital Life consortium.
Through this sponsorship, Avaya will collaborate with the Media Lab's cutting-edge research, working with MIT researchers as well as other industry leaders on projects such as new communications architectures, speech interfaces, and software agents. Avaya will have the opportunity to receive full intellectual property rights to all work developed by the Media Lab during its sponsorship.

Digital Life (DL) is a Media Lab consortium that conducts basic research at the intersection of computation, communication, and human expression, operating in close collaboration with industry. Research foci include organic networks, which investigates new communications applications enabled by wireless networks; 10X, which considers technologies that can improve human activity by an order of magnitude; and common-sense computing.
