Arrow Electronics Offers IBM Resellers Storage Technology Sales Training and Education

Posted on: Tuesday, 1 November 2005, 09:00 CST

The Support Net Division of Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW), one of the largest value-added distributors of IBM enterprise products and integration services, has teamed up with IBM to provide comprehensive sales training and education to IBM resellers.

This specialized training equips IBM resellers with proven sales techniques and technical knowledge about enterprise and midrange storage products to enhance storage sales productivity.

1. Top Gun Lite is a one-and-a-half day storage sales training pilot program designed by Support Net and IBM. The purpose of Top Gun Lite is to further educate Support Net's IBM resellers about IBM storage products that span tape, disk, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and virtualization with the SAN Volume Controller (SVC). Participants also receive the latest industry information on storage business drivers, the benefits of storage technology, how to identify storage sales opportunities, product positioning and competitive positioning. The most recent Top Gun Lite training was held in October in Tucson, Arizona. Additional sessions are currently being scheduled.

2. Technical Bootcamp condenses two weeks of storage technology curriculum into a one-week intensive training opportunity developed by Support Net and IBM. During Technical Bootcamp IBM resellers can obtain high-end disk certification, a technical certification that is required in order to sell the IBM DS8000 and Enterprise Storage Server. IBM resellers can also earn the open systems certification, which substantiates a reseller's expertise in IBM's midrange storage product line. Technical Bootcamp is taking place this week in Indianapolis.

"We have worked with IBM to ensure that these sessions provide valuable training that will help our resellers differentiate themselves from the competition," said Eric Williams, executive vice president, Support Net Division. "This training will give our IBM resellers the latest information on the storage market as well as proven sales techniques to help them identify and close more storage sales opportunities."

In addition to Top Gun Lite and Technical Bootcamp, IBM is offering an advanced storage training program, the IBM TotalStorage Portfolio Top Gun. This is a four-day technical training session open to Support Net's IBM resellers that possess a basic understanding of storage technologies and products. The first IBM TotalStorage Portfolio Top Gun will be held in Dallas, November 14-18.
