Entropic Communications' Ecosystem Helps OEMs Design for Home Networking of Digital Entertainment

Posted on: Wednesday, 2 November 2005, 12:00 CST

Entropic Communications is collaborating with electronic component manufacturer Pulse and design houses A2E Technologies and Mototech, to creating a large ecosystem for product development using its home networking digital entertainment chipset, c.LINK(TM).

The partnership can source, design and provide consulting services. All companies have well-rounded and practical experience with MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance), the standard for broadband home entertainment networking, which is based on c.LINK.

As part of the ecosystem, Pulse will provide filtered cable connectors. These filters are specially designed so that OEMs can fully utilize coax's speed and reliability. A2E Technologies will supply analog, high-speed communications, set-top boxes (STBs) and network device design. Mototech brings manufacturing expertise in data networking and broadband customer premises equipment (CPE).

MoCA is a non-profit organization formed to develop and promote an open standard for home-entertainment networking over coax. Founding members are Linksys/Cisco Systems, Comcast, EchoStar, Entropic Communications, Panasonic (Matsushita Electric), Motorola, RadioShack Corporation and Toshiba. Membership is open to any company wanting to network home-digital entertainment over coax. For more information: http://www.mocalliance.org.

Also helping to accelerate the development of MoCA-enabled products, Entropic is providing a password-protected, online data repository for those using c.LINK development and evaluation kits. The secure client site is accessed through an easy-to-use web interface and contains downloadable versions of the c.LINK SDK and EVK. The secured site improves information access and automatically notifies users when new information is available.
