Conference to Discuss Express Train Service Proposal Today

The public is invited to attend the Midwest High Speed Rail Association Fall Conference to be held in Springfield from noon to 4 p.m. today.
The purpose of the meeting is to highlight the association's proposal to add express train service connecting Springfield and Chicago. There also will be presentations about the new intermodal facilities planned for both Springfield and Normal. In addition, Marc Magliari, media relations manager for Amtrak, will provide an update on Amtrak developments.
The program will begin at 1 p.m., preceded by a box lunch at noon. The conference will be held at Capital City Center-Lincoln Land Community College, 130 W. Mason St. Cost to attend the conference is $20. The box lunch is an additional $10 and requires registration.
