Man Sentenced in Child Porn Case
LAFAYETTE – A Lake Charles man arrested on child pornography charges after a computer tech noticed illicit images on his computer was sentenced Tuesday to 2 years and 9 months in prison.
A technician at Gateway Computers in Lake Charles noticed about 100 images of pre-pubescent girls on Charles E. Barks’ computer after the man brought it in for repairs in 2001, according to court records.
The technician reported the pornography to the FBI.
In a subsequent search of Barks’ home, agents found a compact disc containing video clips depicting sexual acts performed on pre- pubescent girls and acts of bestiality, according to court records.
The sentence handed down Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Richard Haik was the maximum recommended under federal sentencing guidelines.
