Buses Laid on As Visitors' Parking Banned Near City's Guy Fawkes Spectacular

MASSIVE road closures were today announced around two huge fireworks spectaculars taking place in Birmingham.

Tonight, Pype Hayes Park will host the Pype Hayes Fireworks Spectacular.

Thousands of Brummies are expected to enjoy the return of the traditional bonfire, fireworks and funfair linked to the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot.

There is free public car parkingat the Fort Shopping Centre, with a Travel West Midlands shuttle bus service operating from 5pm. The last pick up is at the Bagot Arms at 11pm.

There is no parking at Pype Hayes, except for people with disabilities, and there will be residents only access from 4.3010.30pm on roads surrounding the park, including Hansons Bridge, Waterside Close, Woodlands Farm Road, Elmfield Avenue Humberstone Road, Silverdale Road, Woodcote Way, Springthorpe Road, Pagets Road (both ends and roads off), Pype Hayes Road, Park Tree Walk, Marshbrook Road, Padstow Road, Woodacre Road, Westmede Crescent, Varley Road, Tyburn Square, Eatonwood,Saltney Close, Littlepitts Close, Egerton, Gunter Road and Pitts Farm Road.

Tomorrow night, thousands of spectators are expected at the Warwickshire County Cricket Ground in Edgbaston, Birmingham, for a 45-minute show featuring lasers, fireworks, special effects and chart topping acts.

There will be free car parking for advance ticket holders at Broadway Plaza, Five Ways. A Travel West Midlands shuttle bus service will operate from 3.30pm with the last pick up from the cricket ground at 11pm. Free parking is available at the Midlands Arts Centre, Nature Centre, Priory School and Cannon Hill Park's Redgra car park. Car parking for people with disabilities has been reserved at Colts Ground, Edgbaston.

Several roads in Edgbaston and Balsall Heath will be closed from 3pm to 9pm, with residents-only access, including Sir John's Roads, First Avenue, Second Avenue, Third Avenue, Fourth Avenue, The Russells, Goodby Road, Raglan Road, Constance Road, Eastwood Road, Harbury Road (both ends), Cannon Hill Road, Willow Crescent , Jakeman Road and Odell Place.

All car parks will be AA sign posted and stewarded.

Barriers will also be installed on the grass verge on the corner of Pershore Road and Pebble Mill Road
