Louisiana Offshore Oil Port Offloads First Post-Katrina Oil

The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port has resumed pumping operations at its offshore oil port facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. The first supertanker to visit the Port is being unloaded. The operation was initiated following the completion of a series of successful pressure tests on the LOOP and LOCAP crude oil pipelines. Startup was delayed after an emergency generator went down earlier today. However, once generator power was restored, tanker offloading began around began at 5 p.m. Thursday and LOCAP deliveries began at 6 p.m. When commercial power is restored, LOOP and LOCAP will be capable of achieving maximum capacity.
