Grokster to Stop Distributing File-Sharing Service

WASHINGTON — File-sharing service Grokster will stop distributing software that allows users to copy songs without permission as part of a settlement with the recording industry, an industry group said on Monday.
The settlement with the Recording Industry Association of America comes four months after the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Grokster and other "peer to peer" networks could be held liable if they induce users into violating copyright laws.
RIAA members include Vivendi Universal, Warner Music Group Corp., EMI Group Plc. and Sony BMG.
