Midwest Airlines Again Named Top Domestic Airline in the Zagat Air Travel Survey

Posted on: Monday, 7 November 2005, 18:00 CST

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2005 Zagat Air Travel Survey has rated Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines as Top Domestic Airline, marking the fifth consecutive time the airline has ranked #1, garnering the top spot in every survey since its inception in 1990.

Among domestic airlines, Midwest Airlines came in first with a 21.40 ranking. The top-rated domestic airlines and their scores include:

1. Midwest Airlines 21.40 2. JetBlue Airways 19.29 3. Song 17.38 4. Frontier Airlines 15.95 5. Independence Air 15.53 6. Hawaiian Airlines 14.36 7. Alaska Airlines 14.21 8. Aloha Airlines 13.65 9. Continental Airlines 13.61 10. Southwest 12.17

The Zagat Air Travel Survey reflects the responses of 5,277 travelers who provide ratings for comfort, service, food and Web site. Midwest's top ranking is attributable to its first place finish in comfort and food, and strong showings in other categories. The complete survey is available at http://www.zagat.com/ .

Timothy E. Hoeksema, the airline's chairman and chief executive officer, called the top rating a testament to the hard work of the airline's employees. "For over 21 years, Midwest has delighted customers with tangible comforts such as wide-leather seats and baked-onboard chocolate chip cookies, delivered by the best people in the business. Even in difficult economic times, our employees understand the value of each interaction with our customers, and do everything they can to deliver on our promise of 'The best care in the air.'"

He added that the announcement comes on the heels of other very positive achievements for Midwest throughout 2005, including wide-ranging schedule and service enhancements, strong load factors, the launch of several new markets -- including the recent additions of nonstop service between Kansas City and Orlando, Pittsburgh, San Diego and Tampa -- and the airline's "Best Domestic Airline" award from Travel+Leisure.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the United States, including Milwaukee's most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Skyway Airlines, Inc. -- its wholly owned subsidiary -- operates as Midwest Connect, which offers connections to Midwest Airlines as well as point-to-point service between select markets on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Together, the airlines offer service to 48 cities. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com/ .
