Nov. 8–International Display Works Inc. said Monday that it is one of several companies chosen by a major cellular phone manufacturer to provide the screens for a new model phone.

The Roseville-based company didn’t identify the manufacturer or reveal the size of the initial order, citing the manufacturer’s request for confidentiality.

IDW said it would begin shipping the displays in the first quarter of 2006.

While its headquarters are in Roseville, the bulk of its workforce and all manufacturing operations are in China.

“To receive this endorsement from one of the largest manufacturers of cell phones in the world is gratifying for our entire company,” said Tom Lacey, IDW’s chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.

IDW’s stock closed Monday at $6.48, up 11 cents, in trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
