Trolltech(R), provider of leading technologies that make advanced software faster to build and easier to use, and Nissin Systems, a major embedded systems integrator in Japan, today announced a partnership to provide Linux-based embedded software solutions in Japan. Under the terms of the agreement, Nissin will resell Trolltech's Qtopia(R) technology, the most widely-used development environment and user interface for Linux-based products (Linux kernel Version 2.6), as part of a complete embedded software solution.
"Japan is one of the most advanced and demanding markets, and it continues to lead the rest of the world in the development and adoption of sophisticated embedded technologies," said Haavard Nord, Trolltech CEO. "While Linux is already widely used throughout Asia, our partnership with Nissin Systems will make the Linux/Qtopia platform more accessible to organizations that require the convenience of a complete software stack. We are looking forward to working with an industry leader such as Nissin to expand our reach in Asia even further."
Trolltech's Qtopia is a comprehensive software development platform and user interface for embedded Linux. With Qtopia, organizations can efficiently build customized and feature-rich Linux-based technologies such as mobile phones, PDAs, consumer electronics and other embedded devices. A major reseller of embedded Linux products in Japan, Nissin will provide a turnkey embedded software solution to the Japanese market comprised of Qtopia, embedded Linux products and application software.
"Qtopia with Linux is a powerful platform on which companies can cost-effectively develop customized software that can be embedded into virtually any product," said Yoshikazu Takeuchi, member of the board, Nissin Systems. "Trolltech has become established as a leading innovator in the Asian embedded Linux market, and we are pleased to become a Trolltech technology partner in Japan."
