Netcell Joins Maximum PC Magazine Dream Machine U.S. Tour, Provides Consumers With Hands-On Extreme Gaming and Storage Experience; Netcell Revolution Storage Processing Card Selected As Exclusive RAID Controller in Maximum PC Dream Machine DMX

Posted on: Wednesday, 9 November 2005, 09:00 CST

Netcell Corporation, the technology leader in storage processing, today embarked on a tour of the U.S. with Maximum PC Magazine, providing consumers a first-hand look at the 10th annual Dream Machine, dubbed DMX. The 2005 Dream Machine, featured in the September issue of Maximum PC magazine, embraces and celebrates the PC Power philosophy and sets an industry standard for current cutting-edge technology while providing a glimpse of where computers will go.

Chosen as the official storage processor of the 2005 Dream Machine, the Netcell Revolution was declared, "an utter joy during RAID setup." Maximum PC's staff went on to claim it was so easy "a baby could install it." Connecting five Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 drives in a RAID 3 array, the Netcell Revolution storage processing card provides the Dream Machine with two terabytes of high-performance storage.

"The Revolution card's driverless install capability finally let us decommission the pesky floppy drive once and for all," said Gordon Mah Ung, senior editor of Maximum PC Magazine. "And, performance of the Revolution card was worthy of our Dream Machine."

"DMX and other high-performance PCs cannot be considered 'world-class' unless they are built using only the most advanced components available in the industry," said Becky Smith, vice president of Marketing, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. "Hitachi's Deskstar 7K500 was chosen as the exclusive hard drive for DMX because of its industry-leading capacity, performance and other features. Our collaboration with Netcell will showcase this performance, particularly the benefits of SATA technology."

"The Maximum PC Dream Machine showcases the performance and protection features of the Netcell Revolution storage processor," said Don Clegg, vice president of marketing for Netcell Corporation. "Whether you're a video enthusiast who needs to edit multiple HDV streams with special effects or a gamer who requires a stable computer that offers full system performance, even after drive failure, the Revolution SPU gets it done."

The Maximum PC "Dream Machine Tour" will stop at the following locations:

-- November 9-13, New York, NY, Loews Cineplex

-- November 25-December 24, San Francisco, CA, Sony Metreon
