Nov. 9--TOKYO -- Standard & Poor's said Tuesday it will review its credit ratings on Japan's five major trading houses of Mitsubishi Corp., Mitsui & Co., Sumitomo Corp., Itochu Corp. and Marubeni Corp. with positive implications in view of their faster-than-expected capital accumulation.
The ratings on Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sumitomo and Itochu may be upgraded by one notch, while the rating on Marubeni may be revised upward by up to two notches because Marubeni's financial profile has improved faster than the four others.
At present, the U.S. credit-rating agency assigns an A-minus long-term rating to Mitsubishi, Mitsui and Sumitomo, a BBB-minus to Itochu and a BB to Marubeni.
