GLASGOW Airport handled more than 868,000 passengers last month, according to new figures.
Passenger numbers were up 1.2-per cent with 40,190 people passing through the airport on October 14, at the start of the school break, alone.
Prague, Barcelona, Las Palmas and Tenerife were among the most popular destinations for autumn breaks.
Last month, the number of passengers using Scotland's three main airports broke through the 20 million mark for the first time.
BAA Scotland said 1.9m passengers used Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports last month, up 3.5-per cent on the same point last year.
In the year to October, passenger numbers at the three airports rose by 5.1-per cent to more than 20m.
Donal Dowds, managing director of BAA Scotland, said: "It is a remarkable reflection of the growth of air travel that our three airports are now handling 20m passengers, almost twice as many as they handled just 10 years ago.
"This is a milestone achievement for BAA Scotland and underlines the importance of our airports to Scotland, both in terms of the substantial economic contribution they make, and their role as Scotland's principal gateways.
"We realise people have a choice of transport options and that is why we are investing GBP500m over the next 10 years to make Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen the airports of choice for Scottish travellers and for the millions who visit Scotland every year."
