Agilysys, Inc. Launches Server Accelerator Program for HP Channel Partners

Posted on: Thursday, 10 November 2005, 09:00 CST

CLEVELAND, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Agilysys, Inc. , a leading provider of enterprise computer technology solutions, launched its Server Accelerator program to HP channel partners last month at a continuing education event. Throughout the two-day Server Accelerator workshop, partners were presented with the methodology and tools needed to develop and implement HP solutions designed for end users to maximize their current server infrastructure while planning for the transition to HP Integrity servers.

"The program builds partners expertise so that they can counsel customers about how to optimize their IT environments with the latest HP technologies," said Pete Montana, vice president and general manager of Agilysys. "We also discussed how partners can become trusted business advisors and maximize their business opportunities within their current customer base."

Benefits offered to the qualifying Agilysys KeyLink Systems Group (KSG) partners under the Server Accelerator program include customized migration assessment and solution proposal support, dedicated KSG HP marketing support as well as quarterly program, tools and industry updates via the Agilysys partner portal, The Edge. Those partners attending semi-annual workshops and committing to strict program requirements may qualify for select status under Server Accelerator, earning exclusive benefits in return for their investment.

Each of the Agilysys partners that attended the workshop last month earned select status for the pilot program beginning in November. These Agilysys partners are eligible for additional benefits including end-user customer demand generation activities, access to Agilysys and HP technical resources for joint customer calls, as well as the ability to earn market development funds. Partners can also qualify for market development funds and quarterly growth incentives for meeting program metrics.

New KSG partner Tim Joyce, president and chief executive officer, Roundstone Systems was especially impressed with the workshop's ability to convey what he considers a "lost art" in the computer industry. "As our customers' trusted business advisor, we need to understand their financial situation and needs," he said. "The workshop did an excellent job addressing the financial approach to the sale, which will help us put together better deals for our customers."

The Server Accelerator workshop provided partners with the initial steps to understanding their customers' current environments and needs, and shows them how to conduct a successful account consulting session. Chris Case, president, Sequel Data Systems, felt this portion of the session proved especially beneficial and applicable to his company's current sales approach.

"Part of what we learned during the workshop is, initially, we need to get the 'right' customer attendees in the room and that doesn't always mean the president and chief executive officer of a company," Case said. "They reiterated to us that different customer attendees from various departments within an organization provide a wide variety of perspectives that really help us to layout a high-level, customer roadmap."

Jason Buchanan, owner, Harbor Consulting said one of his most important takeaway findings from the event was the tremendous amount of opportunity that exists for partners to take their migration services to the next level. "We learned all the upsides for customers to move forward from the Alpha server to the Integrity line, such as the superb pre-sales technical support available to us from Agilysys."

The event was the first of semi-annual workshops specifically designed to assist channel partners in the migration of their customers' computing environments to the Integrity server line.

"When you're able to decrease a customer's fears, uncertainties and doubts about a deal by enabling them to justify new systems or upgrade to their existing system, you're positioning yourself as their trusted business advisor and setting the baseline for future revenue opportunities," said Montana.
