Kontiki Named to AlwaysOn List of Top 100 Private Companies

Posted on: Monday, 23 June 2003, 06:00 CDT

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 2003--Kontiki today announced that it has been named to the first-annual list of the AlwaysOn(TM) (AO) Top 100 Private Companies. Kontiki was selected from a pool of over 700 companies in a search to identify the private companies that have the greatest impact on the development of the AlwaysOn world -- a world in which access to content and services will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

AlwaysOn, the media company that covers innovation in technology and business, compiled the list with assistance from KPMG's emerging business practice, KPMG 1Start. The two groups surveyed more than 1,000 venture investors, investment bankers, top entrepreneurs and executives, who nominated more than 700 companies for the competition. The full list can be found at www.alwayson-network.com.

Kontiki's grid delivery software transforms a company's underutilized servers, personal computers and existing network infrastructure into a high performance network capable of delivering TV quality videos, large documents and software quickly and securely. Kontiki's flagship product, the Delivery Management System (DMS), gives companies unprecedented cost savings and network performance when sending digital content to users on intranets, extranets and the Internet.

Tony Perkins, AlwaysOn editor, and KPMG 1Start, identified the AO100 companies based on their innovation and demonstrated leadership among their peers in at least two areas: market traction measured by revenue or customer growth and game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players.

"We believe Tony Perkins, through his AlwaysOn weblog, is helping identify exciting new trends that are developing in the global digital network," said Mike Homer, Kontiki's CEO and chairman. "As shown by our customers, we know that enterprises are experiencing real cost savings by utilizing rich media and grid delivery to more effectively conduct web events, training, customer support, and software distribution. We're pleased to be named to the first-ever AO100 Top Private Companies list and to be recognized for the ground-breaking technologies we're applying with our customers every day."

A reception will be held honoring the winners on July 15, 2003 at AO2003: The Innovation Summit, taking place July 15-17 at Stanford Law School on the Stanford University Campus.
