Avvenu Receives Mobile Technology Award
Posted on: Friday, 11 November 2005, 12:00 CST
Avvenu today announced that its new remote access and sharing service received the Best of Mobile Technology Award at this week's Mobile Technology conference held in Indian Wells, California, where wireless industry leaders gathered to see the latest and greatest in mobile computing and wireless data communications technologies. Out of the 35 new companies demonstrating their wares, Avvenu was chosen by attendees as having the most promising mobile technology at the conference.
"Each year attendees choose the most exciting technology for the Best of Mobile Technology Award," said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., principal analyst at MobileTrax, producers of the Mobile Technology conference. "This year Avvenu made the biggest impression with its remote access technology that has the power to transform the mobile computing experience by making a mobile device, such as a smart phone or PDA, a true computing platform."
Avvenu is a free service that lets business users and consumers securely access their office and home computers directly from their web-enabled mobile device or laptop computer. In addition to accessing their own content, Avvenu users can quickly and securely share access to their content with colleagues, friends and family. Avvenu users can securely access important documents when traveling, share pictures while still on vacation or distribute large files to colleagues -- in seconds. Earlier this week Avvenu announced a powerful new feature that lets users search their desktop computer from any web-enabled mobile device using Google Desktop Search.
While Avvenu offers its service directly to consumers, the company is also working with major corporations to enable them to deliver this capability to their customers. Recently, Avvenu announced that the service was specifically optimized for Palm (NASDAQ:PALM) devices, including the Palm(R) Treo(TM) 650 smartphone, the LifeDrive(TM) mobile manager, and the new Palm TX handheld with affordable Wi-Fi connectivity. The service gives Palm customers fast access to their files, folders and photos directly from their Palm devices. Avvenu also recently announced integrated support for Adobe's (NASDAQ:ADBE) Photoshop(R) Album Starter Edition 3.0 and Photoshop Elements 4.0, and Motorola (NYSE:MOT) announced it will release a service later this year based on Avvenu technology. The service will allow Motorola customers to easily view, save and share photos between mobile phones and PC's.
