Netezza Performance Server System Now Certified With SPSS Clementine; Netezza and SPSS Announce Partnership

Posted on: Tuesday, 15 November 2005, 09:00 CST

Netezza Corporation today announced that SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ: SPSS) has certified its award-winning data mining workbench product, Clementine(R), with the Netezza Performance Server(R) (NPS(R)) data warehouse appliance. The optimized integration between these two industry-leading technologies allows joint customers to further leverage the breakthrough performance of the NPS system, enhancing data mining processing and enabling higher levels of analytical performance.

Increasingly, organizations across industries are facing significant data processing challenges due to explosive data growth. The NPS system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data - 10 to 50 times faster than existing data warehouses, at half the cost. Clementine from SPSS is an enterprise data mining workbench that enables rapid predictive modeling to improve decision making. The optimized integration between Clementine and the NPS system gives organizations the ability to do iterative analysis on large volumes of data with ease.

"By leveraging the performance and ease-of-use of Netezza, organizations can drastically enhance the depth and speed at which they analyze their data. As a result of this integration, organizations can ultimately develop more refined analytic models with greater efficiencies than what they are used to today. It's a pretty compelling offering," said Jonathan Otterstatter, executive vice president and chief technology officer at SPSS. "Netezza and SPSS deliver a scalable, high-performance solution capable of addressing the analytical challenges of the world's most data-intensive enterprises."

"The perception of data mining as a scientific instrument used only by analysts is starting to fade as business intelligence penetrates further into the fabric of organizations. Data mining solutions like Clementine from SPSS play a crucial role in business intelligence today," said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder, Netezza Corp. "Together, SPSS and Netezza are able to offer mutual customers a powerful solution that has the capability to deliver a deeper level of insight into corporate data - insight that directly impacts the bottom line."
