A consortium of Bombardier, Siemens, and Garza Ponce, S.A. de C.V. has been awarded a $244 million contract to design and build 14 high-floor light rail vehicles for Metrorrey, Monterrey's mass transit agency. The cars will be manufactured, tested, and commissioned at Bombardier's facility in Sahagun, Mexico. Deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2007.
The LRVs will equip a 5.4-mile extension of Metrorrey's Line 2 towards San Nicolas de los Garza and Escobedo counties, a turnkey project that's set open in the second half of 2007. Copyright Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corporation Oct 2005
