Danger, Inc., provider of mobile software services, today announced that T-Mobile UK will be the first UK operator to offer the T-Mobile Sidekick(R) II, a device powered by Danger's mobile Internet platform.
Phil Chapman, T-Mobile UK's Marketing Director, said, "The Sidekick II is the ultimate communicator. The Sidekick II is key to our web'n'walk offering, with access to the full internet and instant messaging made easy wherever you are. Having seen the hype around this product in the US and witnessed its amazing rise to become the must-have communications accessory, T-Mobile is delighted to be the first and only operator to offer the Sidekick II in the UK."
Danger's mobile Internet platform is comprised of a software and services infrastructure that supports Danger-powered devices. The client/server platform enables an "always-on" connection, continuously synchronizing, backing-up and managing the secure transmission of data between the network and the device. This award-winning service provides end-users with an optimized Web browsing experience, push email, enhanced instant messaging capabilities and access to a Web-based, online account to manage all of his or her data from any internet enabled desktop computer. The Danger operating system delivers a set of uncompromised applications that interact with each other and operate simultaneously, allowing users to multitask, much like the familiar desktop environment.
"We have eagerly anticipated the opportunity to expand our service into the UK market," said Hank Nothhaft, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Danger. "Danger's platform is specifically designed to deliver a superior mobile Internet experience to the connected consumer, by helping operators like T-Mobile UK deliver on the promise of advanced data services."
Beginning today, the Sidekick II will be available at T-Mobile retail stores and online at www.t-mobile.co.uk, from GBP 30 ($52) per month. The cost of the device is dependent on the price plan selected, ranging from free to GBP 49.99 ($86).
