Dell'Oro Group Reports Healthy Optical Market Growth in 3Q05; Fourth Consecutive Quarter of Higher Optical Revenue in North America

According to a newly published report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, the worldwide optical equipment market grew 2 percent in the third quarter over the prior quarter revenues. The report shows that the North American region continued its demand for more optical equipment and that the DWDM long haul and Optical Switch markets had the strongest sequential revenue growth in the quarter--growing 21 and 25 percent respectively. Alcatel was the worldwide lead vendor for DWDM long haul and Lucent led the vendor list in the Optical Switch market.
