mPhase Technologies Executive to Update New Jersey Nanotech Community on Company's Nano-Based Battery Development; Rutgers University Event Focuses on Energy Storage and Conversion

Steve Simon, executive vice president for research and development at mPhase Technologies (OTC: XDSL), will address a session of a day-long conference, "Commercializing Nanotechnology in Energy Storage & Conversion" today at the Rutgers University Busch Campus Center in Piscataway. mPhase is the Conference Sponsor of the event organized by the New Jersey Technology Council in conjunction with the Greater Garden State Nanotechnology Alliance.

Simon is participating in the afternoon session titled, "Nano/Energy Commercialization Successes." He has oversight responsibility for mPhase's nanobattery, under development with Lucent Technologies Bell Labs. The novel battery architecture is based on a Bell Labs discovery that liquid droplets of electrolyte will stay in a dormant state atop microscopic nanostructures until stimulated to flow, thereby triggering a reaction producing electric current. Future batteries based on this technology have the potential to deliver far longer shelf life and better storage capacity than existing battery technology. Potential initial applications for this technology may include defense, industrial, healthcare, and consumer electronics. mPhase is also targeting the nanobattery for use in technically-improved, lighter weight battery designs.
