Posted on: Wednesday, 23 November 2005, 12:00 CST
AuthenTec, the world leader in fingerprint sensor innovation and sales for more than five years, will highlight the company's fast growth - particularly in the PC segment - and biometric trends in the PC, wireless and access control markets at Morgan Stanley's Semiconductor Private Company Conference November 29 in San Francisco.
During the conference, AuthenTec CFO Gregory Teesdale will detail the many new mainstream PC and wireless manufacturers that recently adopted the company's award winning TruePrint technology, and showcase how fingerprint sensors are being used to provide advanced security, convenience, navigation and personalization for a wide range of real-world applications.
The company recently announced that increased adoption by mainstream PC suppliers, combined with continued strong demand in its wireless and access control markets, has pushed shipments to the highest level since it was founded seven years ago. With more than 6 million sensors in use worldwide, the company is the recognized number one supplier worldwide - shipping nearly two thirds of all sensors sold in the PC, wireless and access control markets during the past five years.
AuthenTec's sensors are used in more than 100 different notebook and tablet computers, portable hard drives, mice, keyboards, memory keys, cell phones and other devices. Mainstream manufacturers with AuthenTec sensors in their products include HP, Fujitsu Computer, Toshiba, Samsung, NEC Packard Bell, APC, LG and many others.
Industry analyst firm Frost and Sullivan projects that the silicon chip fingerprint sensor market will be an approximately $1.9 billion industry by 2011.
