Analysys International Says China's Annual Online Learning Market Will Rebound to Reach RMB11.61 Billion in 2005

Posted on: Thursday, 24 November 2005, 09:00 CST

BEIJING, Nov. 24 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Analysys International says that China's annual online learning market will rebound to reach RMB11.61 billion in 2005 in its recently released Quarterly Tracker on China's Internet VAS Market 2005-Q3. Analysis International also points out that the online professional qualification & authentification training has a more promising prospect compared with other market segmentations.

According to Analysys International's data, the total annual online learning market will reach RMB11.61 billion in 2005. Since the certificates obtained from online learning haven't been widely recognized by society, and the learning effect is not as good as expected, consumer's behavior became to be rational since the beginning of 2005. This resulted in the slight decline of the market size to RMB8.5 billion from 9.03 billion of 2004. According to Analysys International's data, online professional qualification & authentification training has a more promising prospect as it has higher recognition from consumer side and the products are better developed compared with other online learning market segmentations. The typical service provider is the TOL24 from New Oriental School, which has more than 1.5 million registered students in 2005.

''China's online learning service providers should put more efforts in improving the product quality and overall service quality as well as launching more entry-level products to further cultivate the market,'' says Liu Lei, an analyst from Analysys International, ''Meanwhile, the second round Internet tide, which boost the general recognition and independence on Internet, will become another activator for the online learning market.''

This subject will be discussed with other key industry issues in the coming TMT(technology, media and telecom) Industry Annual Summit held by Analysys International on Dec., 9th 2005 in Beijing.
