AlmondNet's 'Post Search' Featured at Kelsey Group's Local Search Conference; AlmondNet Argues That Search-Related Ads Should Not Be Restricted To Search Environment

"Search's next generation will have deep linkages to traditional media forms such as display and banner advertising," says AlmondNet VP of Business Development Michael Benedek, who will present AlmondNet's vision today at The Kelsey Group's Interactive Local Media event. The event, which is being held through Dec. 2 in Reston, VA, is expected to attract more than 400 local media executives.
The Kelsey Group has estimated that approximately 20 percent of search engine queries have a local intent and that local search, Internet Yellow Pages and mobile local search will constitute a $5.1 billion market by 2009.
AlmondNet, a New York-based advertising technology company, has been granted three "Post-Search" patents. AlmondNet's "Post-Search" technology delivers ads to consumers based on their recently conducted search queries. Since consumers spend less than 5% of time online visiting search engines and more than 95% of their online time browsing other ad supported content, Post-Search offers paid-search advertisers the ability to reach consumers beyond the typical paid search advertisement distribution channels.
AlmondNet expects that much of local search's growth will hinge on learning the interests of searchers, and providing them with highly relevant banner ads wherever they are.
"Local media companies such as Yellow Pages and newspapers have a great opportunity to leverage search, and connect to a more targeted universe of advertisers," says AlmondNet's Michael Benedek. "We're beginning to test our service with several large newspapers and Yellow Pages, and think they'll shortly see another revenue stream from our efforts."
"Paid search advertising has obviously proven to be extremely successful, but it is limited in its ability to reach consumers at every stage of the buying cycle," said Kelsey Group SVP and Program Director Greg Sterling. "AlmondNet has a model that extends the benefits of paid-search into a potentially broader range of online consumer behaviors and beyond the major engines themselves."
