Datalogics, Inc. announces the expansion of their Adobe PDF Library platform offerings to include the MacIntel platform. Datalogics will be supporting the Mac OS X operating system on both the IBM PowerPC(R) and Intel(R) chips moving forward.
The delivery of universal binaries enables customers who are on the Mac OS X 10.3.9/10.4 platform to take advantage of their current environment, while preparing for the new hardware. The early availability of the Adobe PDF Library to Apple Computer's new platform allows developers the luxury of time to integrate and test their applications on the new hardware without impacting customers. In addition, the Adobe PDF Library customers will be situated to take advantage of the performance improvements that will result from applications built in native code. "Porting the Adobe code to Intel-based Macintoshes is a continuation of our commitment to provide the PDF Library on whatever platforms our software developers want to work on" said Kevin McNeill, vice president of operations, Datalogics, Inc.
The Adobe PDF Library is available on a wide variety of platforms, including: -- Windows -- IBM z/OS UNIX System Services -- Sun Solaris (32-& 64-bit) -- Tru64 UNIX -- Linux -- FreeBSD (UNIX) -- HP PA-RISC (32-& 64-bit) -- Mac OS 9 -- HP IA32/IA64 (Itanium) -- Mac OS X universal binaries for PowerPC and Intel -- IBM AIX -- IBM iSeries (AS/400) -- IBM z/OS (OS/390) -- SGI IRIX
"As Acrobat and Adobe PDF continue to gain momentum, it's important for Adobe to work with reliable, effective technology companies to provide PDF Library SDK support to our development partners. Datalogics has proven they can help software developers using the Adobe PDF Library SDK get to market faster with PDF enabled products," said Eugene Lee, vice president of marketing, Intelligent Documents Business Unit, Adobe Systems Incorporated.
