Thales Unveils New Datacryptor Security Encryption Solution for High Speed SONET OC-192 Networks
Posted on: Monday, 5 December 2005, 15:00 CST
Thales announced today the launch of its new state-of-the-art Datacryptor(R) SONET/SDH OC-192 encryptor. Thales is fast becoming the leader in the high-performance encryption market, positioning its business to meet the demands for protecting critical information for government and financial customers.
The new SONET model will complete the current product line supporting OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 and now OC-192 circuits. All of the Datacryptor SONET encryptors support the AES 256-bit algorithm, dual power, and meet FIPS-140-2, Level 2 certifications.
"More and more of our US Federal customers are moving to OC-192 and are very interested in 10 Gbps capable encryptors to secure their mission critical infrastructures," said Ron Johnson, President, Alcatel Government Solutions, Inc. Alcatel Government Solutions, Inc., provides highly reliable communications & networking solutions to U.S. government agencies and departments, and the carriers and integrators that serve them, enabling success for mission critical applications, worldwide.
All of the Datacryptor products including the low speed link, T1/E1, T3/E3, 10Mb, 100Mb, Gigabit, SONET (OC-3, Oc-12, OC-48) and the new state-of-the-art SONET OC-192 can be managed by a single secure management application. The Element Manager is a key differentiator for the Datacryptor products. The Datacryptor SONET devices are transparent to SONET switches and regenerators and offer customers easy scalability and central management.
The Datacryptor SONET product's proven performance has gained significant customer acceptance by both federal and financial customers. New regulations in the European Union and the United States are forcing large financials to encrypt WAN links between member banks and internal data centers. As SONET deployments increase the SONET encryption market is also rapidly growing.
"The SONET OC-192 Datacryptor firmly places Thales as an industry leader in the security market. We have experienced strong demand for our SONET products and already have a strong pipeline of customers for the OC-192 product in the government and financial markets," said Cindy Provin, President of the e-Security activity of Thales in the Americas.
About Datacryptor(R) products:
Thales' Datacryptor(R) product line offers hardware-based FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography using the robust AES-256 algorithm for point-to-multipoint encryption over layer 3 IP networks and bulk point-to-point encryption applications over layer 2. Layer 2 encryption solutions provide point-to-point security with virtually no latency or overhead. The Datacryptor products provide a full range of solutions for layer 3 IP (10Mb, 100Mb and Gigabit) and layer 2 (56K-512K, Frame Relay, Gigabit, SONET OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 and OC-192) network connectivity. The Datacryptor SONET/SDH OC-192 encryptor will be available in Q2, 2006.
