Medion Selects AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor's Advanced Security for New PC Peripheral, Biometric Password Manager Launched for Consumer PC Market; PC Peripheral Is Second Medion Product With AuthenTec's Power of Touch

After the successful launch of its first biometric notebook PC in October, Medion has again selected advanced fingerprint sensors from AuthenTec for its second biometric PC device - a password manager for the consumer PC market.
Medion chose the EntrePad 2501A slide sensor from AuthenTec, the world leader in fingerprint sensor innovation and sales, to provide the PC peripheral with advanced security, convenience and touch-controlled features enabled by the simple swipe of a finger. The new password manager is being sold in Germany and retails for less than EUR 20.00.
AuthenTec's EntrePad 2501A fingerprint sensor replaces the need for passwords -- allowing authorized users to easily and quickly access their private Internet pages and files by simply sliding their finger across the sensor surface. At the same time, the sensor restricts access to the computer and its files to only those enrolled - keeping information private.
"AuthenTec fingerprint sensors give the Medion PC peripheral the highest level of security, which our customers want to protect their personal computers and files," said Hans-Joerg Kirch, product manager for Medion.
Last month, Medion introduced its first biometric computer, the MD 96500 Notebook PC - which also featured AuthenTec's EntrePad 2501A sensor. The computer has been very successful in the European markets where it is available.
AuthenTec sensors provide advanced security and replace the need for passwords in more than 100 different PC devices, including desktops, notebooks, tablets and peripherals - a larger number than any other supplier. The company's sensors have been selected by today's leading PC manufacturers, including Medion, HP, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Samsung, Fujitsu Siemens, NEC Packard Bell, APC, Motion Computing and others.
