LONDON and NEW YORK, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Narrowstep(TM) Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: NRWS) , the TV on the Internet Company, has recently been successful in the European tender round for video and multimedia production with duplication for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). This has resulted in Narrowstep being awarded a framework contract along with other suppliers to provide video with multimedia services to the DfES and its partners for three years.
Narrowstep will be providing services such as webcasting, film production, live editing and encoding, web chats, chat forums, and live interviews.
As part of the Department's continual improvement program embracing new and exciting methods of delivery, the need for high quality broadcast via a range of methods was built into the tender to enable formal arrangements for this method of delivery to take place. Narrowstep has been working with the DfES previously on a range of different projects which have included:
* Creating the TeacherNet broadband channel (http://player.narrowstep.tv/default.aspx?player=TeacherNet_new) which provides a host of topical educational videos including a range of hotseats (Q&A's) with Ministers and experts such as Charles Clarke, Ruth Kelly and David Milliband, * A live web chat with the well known psychiatrist Raj Persaud, * Live web chat from 10 Downing Street with Tony Blair on his Five Year Strategy (http://player.narrowstep.tv/?player=teachernet), and a * Live webcast of UK Poet Laureate Andrew Motion unveiling the Poetry Archive, a new free online resource that will make available recordings of English language poets reading their own work (http://player.narrowstep.tv/default.aspx?player=TeacherNet_new).
Narrowstep's Government Business Development Manager Mike Worley said, "Our existing body of work for the DfES and confirmation as a preferred supplier proves that Narrowstep's IP-based broadcast technology is extremely valid in whichever sector it is deployed."
Joanne Meaney, spokesperson for the DfES said, "Narrowstep responded very positively to the tender and brief, representing themselves well during live sampling of their services and in the supporting tender documents. This enabled the Department to evaluate all suppliers across a level playing field. The Department and its partners look forward to building a successful relationship with Narrowstep in this fast-moving and new delivery area to the Department."
At present, Narrowstep does approximately two events per month, that are filmed live, which are interactive web chats where the public has direct access via a moderated chat room.
In addition to working with the DfES, Narrowstep has been involved with other European Governments and recently undertook the Internet broadcast of the Prime Minister of Holland. http://player.narrowstep.tv/?player=Innovatienet
