CUPERTINO, Calif. – Apple Computer Inc. started selling “Law & Order” and other top-rated NBC shows on its iTunes online store to help fuel sales of its iPod video players.

Eleven shows from General Electric Co.’s NBC, Sci-Fi and USA television networks were added to the catalog, the companies said Tuesday. The number of videos sold through iTunes tripled to 3 million in the past month, Apple said. Apple introduced an iPod video player in October that initially offered ABC’s “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” for $1.99 an episode. IPods are Apple’s fastest-selling product, with related sales accounting for 40 percent of the computer maker’s revenue in the quarter ended Sept. 24.
